What Is an OOA Room?

OOA stands for onsite overnight assistance: a room in the home set aside for support staff, so help is there overnight.

The Short Answer

An OOA room is a room set aside for support staff, so help is there overnight without taking over anyone's private space.

Who Uses It

Your support workers, usually from your SIL (Supported Independent Living) provider. How the room is used, and when staff are there, is arranged with your SIL provider, not by us as the landlord.

Which of Our Homes Have One

Every two-home build we offer includes an OOA room, and most of our shared homes have one too. Every listing says whether the home has an OOA room, in its At a Glance box and on its card on Find a Home.

Does It Change the Funding?

An OOA room can affect the SDA price a home attracts. If you or your support coordinator need the figure for a particular home, including any OOA amount, ask us.

If You Want to See One

Ask how the OOA room is arranged in a particular home and we'll send the floor plan. Other terms you might meet: NDIS and SDA acronyms.
