Can I Keep My SIL Provider If I Move?
Usually, yes. SDA pays for the home, SIL pays for the people who support you in it, and you choose each one separately.
The Short Answer
SDA (Specialist Disability Accommodation) pays for the home. SIL (Supported Independent Living) pays for the people who support you in it. They're separate parts of your NDIS plan, and you choose each one separately.
Moving home doesn't have to mean changing your SIL provider, as long as they can support you at the new address. And changing SIL provider doesn't mean moving out: your home stays yours.
How It Works in Our Homes
We're the landlord, not the support provider. Necessity Housing owns and manages the homes. You keep whichever SIL provider you choose, and if that relationship changes later, your housing doesn't go with it.
In practice, we coordinate directly with your SIL provider on enrolment, rosters and site access, so the move isn't something you have to manage.
If You're Moving into a Shared Home
In a home shared with other residents, there may already be a SIL provider supporting the people who live there. Ask us who it is, and talk it through with us and your support coordinator before you decide.
Do I Need Both?
Not always. SDA can be funded without SIL, and many people receive SIL while living in ordinary housing. Your NDIS plan says what you're funded for.
Some of the SIL providers already working at our homes are on our SIL Providers page. You don't have to use them.
Talk to Us About a Move
Tell us who your SIL provider is and where you'd like to live, and we'll work out the rest with them.
