A Calm 2-Participant Super Robust SDA Home

Breakout Room | OOA Included | Super Robust Upgrades

19 Glenbrook Drive, Wyndham Vale is a purpose-built 2-participant SDA home designed under the Robust design category. This is a single-storey residence created for participants who need a home that feels calm, secure, durable and easy to live in, while still supporting independence and everyday comfort.

The layout has been carefully planned to support privacy, safety and practical support. The home includes two participant bedrooms, a dedicated Overnight On-Call room, a separate breakout room, a study, open shared living spaces and a connected kitchen and meals area. Each participant has their own private bedroom space, while the shared areas are arranged to support everyday routines without feeling crowded or clinical.

The home has also been upgraded with Super Robust features to strengthen durability, privacy and day-to-day safety. These upgrades are designed to create a stronger and more secure environment while still keeping the home residential, practical and easy to live in.

The Heart of the Home

Open, Practical and Easy to Move Through

The family living area sits close to the kitchen and meals space, creating a clear central area for daily living. This gives participants a shared space to relax, eat, spend time with visitors or take part in everyday routines with support nearby.

The layout is simple and easy to understand. Private bedrooms sit away from the main living area, while the study and breakout room provide additional spaces that can be used depending on each person’s needs. This makes the home suitable for shared living while still giving each participant room to step away when needed.

Lighting, access, movement areas and room placement have all been considered as part of the design. The home supports day-to-day independence while allowing support workers to move through the property in a practical and unobtrusive way.

Participant Bedrooms

Private, Secure and Designed for Real Life

The home includes two participant bedrooms, each designed to provide a private and comfortable personal space. The bedrooms are positioned to support privacy while still remaining connected to the rest of the home.

As a Robust SDA home, the participant bedrooms are supported by sound insulation and durable finishes. This helps create a more settled environment and gives participants a stronger sense of separation from shared spaces.

The layout allows each participant to have their own room while still sharing the benefits of a purpose-built home with support nearby. This balance between privacy and connection is one of the most important parts of the property.

Kitchen and Living Spaces

Simple, Durable and Participant-Friendly

The kitchen and meals area connects directly with the family living space, making the centre of the home easy to use and easy to supervise when support is needed. The kitchen has been designed with practical everyday use in mind, with durable materials and a layout that works naturally with the surrounding living areas.

A kitchen dividing wall is being added as part of the Super Robust upgrades. This helps improve separation within the home and gives the kitchen area a more defined role within the overall layout.

The shared spaces are designed to feel uncluttered and functional. Participants can be part of household routines, enjoy time with others, or move between spaces with a clear sense of where each part of the home begins and ends.

Breakout Room

A Dedicated Space to Reset

The home includes a separate breakout room, which is an important feature for Robust SDA. This room gives participants access to a dedicated space away from the main living area when they need time to reset, regulate or spend time in a quieter environment.

The breakout room is separate from the family living and kitchen areas, which helps the home support different needs at different times of the day. It gives participants and support teams more flexibility in how the home is used.

This is especially valuable in shared living, where a second calm space can make the home feel more manageable and supportive for everyone.

Overnight On-Call Room

Support Nearby Without Losing Independence

The home includes a dedicated Overnight On-Call room so support can be available when needed. This allows participants to live with greater independence while still having the reassurance that support is close by.

The OOA room is integrated into the home without taking over the participant areas. This helps maintain privacy for residents while making the property practical for support providers.

For SIL providers, the layout supports day-to-day service delivery by giving staff a defined space within the home while still allowing participants to enjoy their own private and shared living areas.

Outdoor Area

Secure, Practical and Easy to Use

The home includes garage access and multiple porch areas, giving the property several points of transition between indoors and outdoors. These areas help the home feel connected while still allowing separation between different parts of the layout.

Additional fencing and fence extension works are being completed as part of the Super Robust upgrades. This helps strengthen privacy and security around the home while supporting a more controlled outdoor environment.

The outdoor spaces are practical and easy to understand, designed to support safety, movement and everyday use without feeling overwhelming.

Accessibility and Everyday Comfort

Designed from the Beginning, Not Added Later

This home has been designed from the beginning to meet Robust SDA requirements while still feeling like a real home. It includes step-free access, wide internal movement areas, lockable windows, reinforced bathroom areas, resilient finishes, solid-core doors, recessed lighting, smoke alarms and a dedicated breakout room.

The bathrooms have been designed with accessibility and durability in mind, including reinforced wall areas and layouts that support safer daily routines. The home also includes private bathroom areas connected to the participant side of the layout, helping support privacy and comfort.

The Super Robust upgrades add another layer of safety and durability. These include:

  • 6mm polycarbonate window protection
  • Painted 9mm villa board wall covering, installed 2.4m high
  • Internal paling fencing
  • 300mm fence extension
  • Kitchen dividing wall
  • New 1020 x 2340 solid blockboard door with steel door jamb

  • New 1250 x 2340 security screen sliding door
